together; you are God’s field, God’s building. … For no one can lay any
foundation other than the one that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus
Christ.” I Corinthians 3: 9, 11.

New
Philadelphia’s summer was a quiet one although many
ladies helped with our VBS in July with over 140 children in attendance. Our
Women’s Fellowship anniversary was in August and we are 97 years old. We are
pretty active for our age! Fall is gearing up with lunch for our
“Funtastics” Seniors Group, making chicken pies, hosting a potluck lunch for
our new Associate Pastor, preparing and delivering fruit bags to our shut-ins,
and candle trimming. We also are having our first “Christmas Decoration Sale”
on Saturday, November 5th. All are invited to attend! We
continue to support local and not-so-local agencies and each other as well!
Carols will provide a
festive air and homemade gifts and goodies will abound at the Christmas Bazaar
at Christ the King Church on
Saturday, November 5, 2016. Specialties such as Moravian sugar cakes and Mrs.
Hanes Moravian cookies in several tasty varieties will be available for sale,
as well a large selection of homemade baked goods. One of the biggest sellers
are the church’s traditional Moravian chicken pies. Many patrons “stock up” and
freeze baked goods in preparation for the upcoming holidays.
Unique homemade crafts
such as jewelry, Thanksgiving and Christmas décor, wreaths, purses, and knitted
items will be featured. Other popular gift items are decorated, pre-mixed soup
and cookie recipe jars. Get a jump on your Christmas shopping for neighbors,
teachers, and family members that treasure a personal touch.
The event will include
live Christmas music. Warm biscuits, coffee, and cider will be sold by Christ
the King’s Youth while you shop.

News from Clemmons Moravian Church Women’s
Fellowship - The Women’s Fellowship of Clemmons Moravian has enjoyed the Bible
study
“Hanging In, Hanging Out”

at circle meetings has increased.
We hosted the Yadkin View
RCC Gathering in April. This event was open to all men and women in the
Southern Province. Speakers were Dr. Daniel Crews, Dr. John Hutton and Ms.
Celeste Handy. The topic was The Cherokee Moravian Connection. We raised over
$800 and donated it to Oaks Indian Mission Children’s Home in Oaks, Oklahoma.
Our circles have been busy
collecting items for their individual projects. Those projects include
supporting Anthony’s Plot with homeless kit items, the Women’s Shelter of
Forsyth Country and making 124 birthing kits for Tanzania.
We participated in the
Empty Lockers program this summer by collecting much needed school supplies to
benefit the children of Easton Elementary School. This was a very successful
project. At last count we had 40 book bags!

Macedonia
Moravian Church welcomed our new pastor, Rev. Zachary Dease, in June. Rev. Zach
and his wife, Jamie began their ministry with us on Sunday, June 5 with an
installation service followed by a church wide potluck lunch. We look forward
to many years of worship and ministry with Rev. Zach and Jamie.
Our church is publishing a
new cookbook. The Lola Douthit Circle is
organizing the cookbook which will be sold at our Bazaar on Nov. 12. The proceeds from the sale of the cookbooks
will be used for church projects. Come
out to our Bazaar and purchase a new cookbook with many yummy recipes.
Our church has a Prayer
Quilt Ministry. Ladies in the
congregation make beautiful quilts for anyone in our church family or in the
community who are ill or who need comfort and prayers. When a quilt is completed our pastor offers a
prayer to dedicate the quilt, then after our worship service each member is
asked to tie a knot and say a prayer for that person receiving the quilt.
This fall our church is
offering a series of programs for senior adults. TUESDAYS at 2 will begin on September 20 with
the topic of wills and power of attorney.
The topic for October 4 is services for senior adults. On October 25 a speaker from CareNet will
speak on being with others during their time of pain or grief. YOU are invited
to join us in the Fellowship Hall for these programs followed by a time of
refreshments and fellowship. Please call

The creators of IT's
candles, Idalia and Tom Canter, hope to carry on the tradition of their
ancestors and earlier settlers of Bethania, by hand pouring beeswax candles. They
have a variety of sizes and shapes, ranging from the birthday candle to the
16" taper. Lovefeast candles in bulk.
The beeswax candle was used to symbolize Christ, the light of the world, may His light always shine.
