2017 Watch Word for the PWB

2017 Watch Word
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7: 37-38 NRSV

The Provincial Women's Board presents:
Serving and Sharing Newsletter
June 2017
“For we are God’s servants, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building. …For no one can lay any foundation other than the one that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 3: 9, 11
My Dear Sisters,
It has been a wonderful Spring! Easter Morn was fantastically beautiful! As Moravians we prepare ourselves by walking with Jesus again through our Holy Week Readings. We struggle; we pray, and then on Easter Morn we are able to say, “The Lord is Risen! The Lord is Risen indeed!”! There was bright sun and beautiful flowers. Thank you dear ladies for adorning the graves of our loved ones in all of our God’s Acres.
And then the Spiritual Life Retreat !!!!!!!! What a blessing! Our own Sr. Carol Foltz tried to convince fifty-two sisters from 19 congregations of our province that we are “Saints” for the Lord as we discerned “Vocations for Everyone”. Using many scriptures from St. Paul’s writings we learned of the many gifts we have to share in our faith journey and our churches and communities. PLEASE plan to attend the retreat in 2018, April 27,28, 29. We have already begun to plan for this special time.
Our board will be honoring our past presidents of the PWB at a luncheon in June. Their leadership of this organization is greatly appreciated. Your leadership and involvement in your local congregation is greatly appreciated too. You do so much in the life of a congregation. Thank you!!! To God Be the Glory!
Blessings,
Mallie

Thoughts about the Spiritual Life Retreat 2017
Once again a privilege and a blessing to be a part of the Spiritual Retreat at Laurel Ridge this year. I was joined by four other 'Sisters' from Hope Moravian . From our arrival, the greetings from others is always welcome....familiar faces- and some new ones. This began a weekend of laughter, tears, and a wealth of sharing...a 'hug' around every corner..pure Joy. We received such a blessing from Rev. Carol Foltz, making us smile, feel loved, and be inspired. Thankful to receive spiritual inspiration...I know I want to be a fountain-- Not a drain! The world did not change over the weekend, but we did and came home changed - Thank you to all of those who worked to make this such a "gift" to all of us.
Grace and Peace, Linda

KONNOAK HILLS WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP NEWS
Our Fellowship is being led this year by co-presidents, Martha Johnson and Joanna Burns. We appreciate their leadership. We have three active circles and each meets monthly and studies the Provincial Women’s Bible Study.
The biggest project of the year at Konnoak Hills is making chicken pies in March and October. With help from the Men’s Fellowship, we are able to make over 1000 pies each time. Over a two day period, around 70 people help with this project. We even have a 101 year old member, Regina Walters, who crimps crust all day for two days. This project allows us to contribute to many causes.  We recently contributed to the Unity Women’s Desk Capital Fund Drive.
The Women’s Fellowship is responsible for social events such as Anniversary Dinner and other special congregational meals. We will recognize our fathers with a special reception on Father’s Day.  We have sold all of the cookbooks printed for our 65th Anniversary, but are considering a reprint if there is enough interest.

Also we are working on some new and exciting plans for our fall bazaar.  Details will be shared later as things come together.
Last but certainly not least, we have set a date for a Festival of Tables, September 16th.  We are working on details to have a well known speaker and author that may not only speak at our FOT but in church the next day as well.  Details on that will also be shared as things are confirmed. MACEDONIA  MORAVIAN -The Women’s Fellowship at Macedonia Moravian Church is having a busy year. In February we made candles to be used at our Christmas Eve Lovefeast Services.
Recipes were collected throughout the year from church members and friends of members for the new Macedonia cookbook. We have begun selling these cookbooks ($15.00) and will have them available for purchase at our bazaar on Nov. 11.
In June our circles will provide meals for the VBS children and volunteers. Helping with VBS is part of our outreach to the church and the community.
Digging for Treasure (Parables Revealed) is the theme for VBS which will be held June 26 – 29 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm beginning with supper at 6:00 each night.
Beginning July 16 and continuing each Sunday evening until August 6 Macedonia will have ADULT VBS.  The evening will begin at 5:30 with supper.
Macedonia’s SAWDUSTERS group made a beautiful wine rack which was donated then auctioned to raise money for the ARMF to help with the Cuban Moravian Church.  The wine rack brought $200.00 at the auction!
Macedonia will have a variety of worship services during this summer. Traditional worship will be the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays. On the even Sundays we will have contemporary services including gospel and mountain music. Another new feature is a reading component.  The congregation will be invited to read the book, The Shack. Each Sunday Pastor Zach Dease will bring his message from the chapters in the book.

Seminary Student Emergency Fund
Our seminary students occasionally have unexpected financial needs and the Provincial Women’s Board set up a Seminary Student Emergency Fund in 1985.  The initial gift of $1000 has been increased by gifts and pledges from the Women’s fellowships of our Province.
Students from the Southern Province who have been approved by the  PEC as candidates for ordination in the Moravian Church; and  Moravian Theological Seminary students who are attending the Seminary under the auspices of the Board of World Mission and who are supported entirely by them may apply for this fund.
The fund can  be used to reimburse approved candidates for ordination for medical, dental  computer, auto repairs, etc. The students can also apply for up to $250 per school year for textbooks and/or computer software. This fund is also used to provide each student  a  monetary gift at Christmas.
Each Fellowship may contribute to this fund to help our brothers and sisters who have heard the call to serve the Moravian Church.
