Dear Ladies of the Southern Province, Here is a note that was waiting in the mail this morning. Part of the pledges that we receive each year are used to send the Seminary students at MTS a package of Mrs. Hanes' Ginger cookies. The note is the response that we received from the students. Please be in prayer for our Seminary Students, they are the future leaders of our church. On Thursday November 10, 2011 the PWB hosted a luncheon for the female ministers of the Southern Province. A great time of fellowship was had by all. The PWB members choose one female minister each year to be their secret sister. Though the year, the members of the PWB lift up the ministers in prayer, send cards at special times and even a small gift now and then. This I believe was the third gathering of this sort. The PWB considers it a privilege to be in touch with these special ladies who work so hard serving our LORD and the Moravian Church of America, Southern Province.

The Christmas season begins at First Moravian Church’s annual Candle Tea. Find yourself back in time and experience an old-fashioned, 18th century Moravian Christmas. Watch fragrant beeswax candles being made in our Candle Hut, then move on to the New Fellowship Hall where you will find our putz (a miniature Christmas scene), candle trimming, Moravian stars, pottery, advent wreaths, chicken pies with gravy, gingerbread, apple dumplings, and other Moravian baked goods, crafts, and artisans. Our Tavern offers a relaxing moment where you will enjoy a crackling fire, lively music, Moravian coffee, lemonade and delicious Moravian sugar cake at no charge. Enjoy the beauty of a live nativity on Friday night and a traditional Moravian Brass Band as well as a variety of seasonal music. Many say our Candle Tea is the beginning of their holiday season. Have you seen the beautiful sunrises and sunsets that fall brings? As the days grow shorter with the turning of the leaves and cooler nights, we look forward to Thanksgiving and the Advent season.
